The cat’s meow: The Ottawa Lynx

From the Fitted Hat Files

Before they were the IronPigs of Lehigh Valley, they were the Lynx of the Ottawa River Valley, and they were the AAA affiliate of my beloved Expos: The Ottawa Lynx.

The Lynx were the 1995 International League champs and over their history, featured some big-name future MLB stars like Rondell White, Cliff Floyd, Jose Vidro, and one of the all-time best Canadian sluggers, Matt Stairs.

I never got to see the Lynx play in person, but as a ‘Spos fan, I’d always keep an eye on how they were doing and would read the stories they’d write in the Montreal Gazette about them from time to time.

The first hat is what the Lynx wore for the majority of their Expos affiliation. The second hat is an alternate colour of the standard hat worn by the IronPigs since the Lynx moved to Lehigh Valley in 2008.

Maybe my favourite part of this Lynx lid is how I got it. I’m part of a community called the Fitted Hat Society and after years of hunting, one of the other members helped me get it. He could have charged a markup, but he was just happy to assist. That’s what the FHS is all about.
